The TSP Chief Executive continues to uphold the Park as a ‘beacon in and for the community’ and this is reflected, in part, by growing interaction with schools and further and higher education institutions. TSP through its Board and Senior Management Team continues to work closely with Plymouth City Council (PCC) and South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) in the development and implementation of economic development and inward investment activities.

TSP is a key player in the development of Plymouth’s Local Economic Development Strategy (LES). Currently, the six key priority sectors identified in the LES are mirrored in the client base at TSP. These sectors also reflect the SWRDA key drivers.

It would be totally remiss not to stress the importance TSP places on its close working relationship with the University of Plymouth which, as a progressive and forward thinking higher education institution, provides a multi-disciplinary research base from which exploitable technology can emerge.

Reflecting this close relationship, TSP is already home to a number of University ‘spin out’ operations. Undergraduate placements, final year student projects and knowledge-transfer partnerships are seeing an increasing take-up at TSP, representing a key component of the value-added offering.

In terms of the regional dimension, TSP is actively engaged in the development and management operation of science parks and business incubation centres across the South West of England. TSP through its Chief Executive chairs the South West Science Park and Incubator Managers’ Forum.

Nationally, TSP is actively engaged in driving forward the UK science park movement and chairs the national UK Science Park Association ICT Forum.
